On the afternoon
of October 27, 2016, Mr. Denis from the University of California, Los Angeles (24th in the US National rankings) visited the High School Affiliated to Nanjing
Normal University, Jiangning Campus, and gave an outstanding presentation to
the teachers and students in the American Elite High School Program.
To begin with, Vice President Huang Wei introduced the history of the High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University, Jiangning Campus and the outstanding achievements of the American Elite High School Program. On behalf of the school, he also expressed his warm welcome to Mr. Denis. DU Yang, a student from the American Elite High School, translated the speech into Chinese. She impressed both her teachers and Mr Denis with her grasp of the English language and ability to fluently translate the speech as it was given.

Mr. Denis then gave a brief introduction to the University
of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) including the university structure, location
and course structure. He also emphasized that Los Angeles is a city which is
full of dreams and miracles. As the director of UCLA EXTENSION, Mr. Denis
shared his personal experiences as a freshman in Los Angeles and how he managed
to adapt to the rapid pace of the city with the help of UCLA EXTENSION. Finally,
on behalf of UCLA, Mr. Denis encouraged all students to study hard and hoped to
meet them again at UCLA in the future.

To finish the proceedings, a photo was taken of Mr. Denis, Vice President Huang Wei and all the teachers in American Elite High School Program. Mr. Denis’s visit plays a significant role in strengthening communication between UCLA and the High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University, Jiangning Campus. It is hoped that similar activities will be organized for students in the future and the school is looking forward to the next visit from UCLA.
